Dr. Alberto Palma published an article in Neurology® describing our current understanding of the neural control of the heart. The article, co-authored by Eduardo Benarroch, was featured in the Clinical Implications of Neuroscience Research section of the journal. It provides a recent update of the control of the heart from a molecular to a reflex level.
Dr. Palma became interested in the neurological control of the heart during his neurology residency. He went on to complete a PhD in autonomic neuroscience and sleep, before joining the Dysautonomia Center in 2013. Dr. Palma is currently in his second year of the fellowship at the Center.
